No longer the catnip for old people that it once was, the fish and chips at Nosh food truck will blow your tastebuds - at any age - into next Tuesday. The reason? Because it's proper British beer-battered fish and chips served with vinegar and a dollop of mushy peas. I spoke with Nosh owner Harvey and put him through a round of 10 questions:
1. Where are you from and what are your thoughts on mushy peas?
I'm a London lad through and through- I love our peas, they add a real burst of flavor that cuts through any fat. They are fresh and full of pop.
2. Does cuppa always refer to tea or can it also refer to the cup of vodka I have in my afternoon martini?
Tea, always tea.
3. You serve a hand-ground meatloaf sandwich with sweet roasted tomatoes and onions, and an herb aioli on a toasted Macrina potato roll. Is meatloaf a thing in the UK, or are you just catering to hillbilly American palettes?
Not at all, our closest home style dish would be shepherds pie. Warming, familiar, and hearty.
4. On the menu, you feature roasted bone marrow, fried rabbit, and canapés, which is elevated cuisine, not just for a food truck, but for restaurants in the area as a whole. My question is, when was the last time you personally ate at a Taco Bell?
Every fast food place has had some room in my heart at one time or another.
5. Do you go into a blind rage every time an American refers to Pringles as "chips"?
Nope, we are very Anglo American now, we live here so we adapt to your vocabulary.
6. Can we just take a minute to talk about how crinkle-cut fries are the lowest form of french fry? In any country.
I don't agree, each chip or fry a unique surface area. Frying of fries based in thickness is a science, we've done the research.
7. You serve a house-made raspberry and mint Arnold Palmer. Arnold Palmer's nickname was "The King". Would you be in favor of a special Parliamentary procedure allowing Arnold Palmer to completely bypass the British line of succession and ascend the throne, no questions asked?

8. The word nosh comes from the Yiddish nashn, from Middle High German naschen meaning "to eat on the sly". If asked, would you be able to recite a pitch perfect rendition of If I Were a Rich Man from Fiddler on the Roof?
Give us a decent bottle of single malt and a good half Corona and we will do any tricks.
9. I recently discovered that my grandmother thinks that food trucks are 18-wheelers full of salsa, General Tso's Chicken, and other "foreigner food". Needless to say, she's not from around these parts. Why did you make the decision to go the food truck route rather than a brick and mortar?
I was familiar with food truck industry and decided to follow it myself. It's a tremendous amount of multi discipline hard hard work.
10. Fish and chip shops no longer wrap their food in the traditional newspaper. Do you miss the days when you could taste a slight hint of sudoku on your cod and not give a damn?
Thanks to Harvey for taking the time to answer my questions! I had the pleasure of eating the food above: Cod fish and chips with mushy peas, the caprese sandwich, and the meatloaf sandwich. Since Dawnielle and I are food truck nuts (pathologically so), we've previously tried their fried rabbit and it was killer. They also do catering, which makes me wonder if they'd cater to our living room while I catch up on Game of Thrones for a few hours and knock back some fried rabbit like a Lannister.
